| Bill
Moggridge in the chair
London
14 June 2007:
Putting Bill in
the 'hot seat' were the following inquisitors...
Peter Tennent,
Managing Director, Factory Design
Peter graduated
from Central School, London in 1984 with an degree in Industrial
Design. He worked as a product designer in consultancy at
GK Associates, before moving to the British Design Council,
where, between 1990 and 1994, he ran the Design Directory
and Selection Service assisting companies in the search for,
and use of, design consultants.
In 1994, he moved to Pentagram Design as Design Manager, with
responsibility for running Kenneth Grange’s team and
providing design strategy, project management and client liaison.
In 1998, he joined Factorydesign as an equity partner and
as Managing Director with responsibility for customer relations,
new business and the daily running of the company.
On specific projects,
Peter provides an analysis of client requirements, the preparation
of design briefs, negotiation of contracts, plus project and
design management input, including consultancy advice on intellectual
property, product innovation, design strategy and marketing
issues. Clients include Acco Rexel, British Airways,
BAA, Davidoff and Remington.
Christian
Kirschenpfadt, Account Director, Seymourpowell
Christian, born and raised behind the Iron Curtain in East
Germany, started his professional career in independent film
marketing in New York and soon after diversified into corporate
identity design and branding.
He has helped to develop and implement national and global
branding projects in New York and London in the financial,
airline, consumer electronics and luxury sectors. Some of
his clients include Nokia, HSBC, Jet Airways, S7, The Maybourne
Group, American Express, Hitachi Europe. Currently, Christian
is responsible for the successful running of several global
FMCG projects for Unilever brands as well as a number of product
design projects for clients in North America and Europe.
Despite being ze German, Christian is convinced of having
a (dry) sense of humour – we’ll take his word
for it!

Matthew Leck,
Designer, Native Design
Fresh out of college, Matt was snatched up by Native at his degree
show little under a year ago.
Graduating from Northumbria
University with a First Class BA(Hons) in Industrial Design the
enthusiastic young chap has settled nicely into London life.
When not pouring his creativity into the melting pot at work, or
as of late, liaising with clients in San Francisco and Beijing,
you’ll likely find him indulging his other passion; sitting
somewhere sunny with a guitar in his hands.
Coupling an objective lack of seriousness with a blistering work
ethic, this Northern lad is looking towards a bright future in the
industry.
Revital Cohen,
Design Interaction Student, Royal College of Art
Revital was born and raised in Jerusalem, Israel. From a fine art
background she went to do a
BA in furniture design at Buckinghamshire University and is now
studying for a Masters degree in Design Interaction at the RCA.
Revital’s primary interest in design lies in the influence
that objects and spaces exert upon the psyche. Her work is dedicated
to investigating the ways in which they can manipulate our emotions
and behaviour. Revital is also fascinated by the social and anthropological
significance of objects as well as the formal research theory that
underlies them.
With a background in furniture design, she has always been drawn
to the context of function and the result of the interaction between
the user and object. She sees her use of design as a form of story
telling, a way to engage, manipulate perception and draw attention
to the subtext of behaviour and communication.
