The Challenge's competitive
yet participatory approach has set the standard for a new
style of mentored competition where thinking out of the box
is the keyword and winning is not the primary concern.
So how does it work?
DBA design consultancies work with users and experts to develop
innovative scenarios for a new generation of aspirational
and inclusive products and services. This year's sponsor Sanctuary
Care in collaboration with the London Centre for Dementia
Care set a brief (Thanks for the Memory) related to dementia.
Six teams were shortlisted: Adare; fwdesign; Judge Gill; London
Associates; N1 Creative and Pearson Matthews. They will present
their prototypes and scenarios, from a new footprint for a
care home, a multimedia software programme that facilitates
positive interaction between people with dementia, their families
and carers; to a clock that acts as a product, service and
interface.
Details of the shortlisted
projects can be on the Helen
Hamlyn Centre website
