| Michael
Peters in the chair
Newcastle
11 July 2007:
Putting Michael
in the 'hot seat' are the following panel members:
Des Kennedy, Creative Director,
Infinite
Design
A practising designer for more than 20 years (one of these
days
he says, he may even become good at it!), Des Kennedy is a
founding partner of Infinite Design Consultants.
Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, the company works for clients
across the UK including The British Museum,
Places for People, the Universities of Plymouth and Newcastle,
The National Trust and Papworth Hospital.
When not shouting at the design team he can be found shouting
at his football team, Newcastle United, whose imposing ground,
St James’s Park, overlooks the Infinite Design studio.
Laura Williams,
MD, Zest Innovation
Laura has a background in Industrial Design and has worked
as far afield as Indonesia. She first developed her interest
in Service Design around 5 years ago which led to her involvement
in a week-long scoping workshop for the DIEC, an organisation
funded by One NorthEast to develop the discipline of Service
Design and highlight the value it creates.
Developing this
interest she co-founded Zest Innovation and has worked on
projects with both public and private
sector organisations, from a broad range of market sectors,
such as the Professional Services Industry and Digital Media.
At Zest Innovation apart from the role of Service Designer,
Laura is responsible for project management, business strategy,
development and client account management and brings a rare
mix of creative and analytical skills.

Michael Pagan,
Account Manager, The Design Group
Michael joined The Design Group’s Account Management team
in 2005 and is responsible for managing
a broad portfolio of accounts across the UK.
A mechanical engineering graduate,
Michael developed a strong interest in the commercial power and
consumer perception of brands during his early-career employment
with British Airways (at the time of its controversial
tail-fin rebrand), BAE Systems, France (as its more global identity
replaced ‘British Aerospace’) and Eurostar UK (as the
company balanced rail industry constraints with a need to effectively
promote its unique service).
Michael has always enjoyed client facing roles and the challenge
of developing new relationships into profitable accounts. When combining
this with his earlier experiences, Michael considers himself ideally
suited to agency-based marketing roles, and enjoys the changing
demands of his
current role. When not at work Michael enjoys travel, technology,
reading autobiographies and is a keen sports fan.
Rachel Deller,
Designer,
BIGtwig design
Full of beans and a little kooky, Rachel is currently combining
full-time study with freelance design work.
Currently working at BIGtwig design, she is already dipping her
toes into service design, design management, teaching and more thorough
consultancy work. Rachel is also half-way through a 4 year BA Hons
degree in Design for Industry at the University of Northumbria and
working on the Eco Design Challenge with Dott 07 in the North East
of England.
Other passions of the moment include both making books and devouring
those of others'
as well as plundering treasures from the junk shops of the North
East, which with all the work she is doingkeep her pretty much occupied
a 120% of the time! She still wishes sleep was less essential, so
shecould fit more in.
