After graduating from Leicester with a BA Hons in Graphic
Design, David worked at Conran Associates and Stewart McColl
Design Associates before joining Benchmark where his clients
included Levis and Airfix.
In the early 80’s, David established Worthington &
Co., whose clients included BT, Sainsbury’s and BHS.
Worthington & Co. were rated as one of the best performing
design businesses in the Company’s House audit of design
companies (1990-95). In 1996, Havas Advertising acquired the
company, in a deal that saw Worthington & Co. merged with
Conran Design Group and David appointed managing director.
Today the firm employs 55 people, who work across a wide
variety of branding and branded environment projects. Recent
examples have included the re-launch of MFI, the creation
of Holland’s largest supermarket for Albert Heijn, and
the development of Shell’s first hydrogen garage in
Iceland. Other clients includes BT, Debenhams, First Choice
Group, Levis, Orange, Proctor & Gamble, and Sainsbury’s.
David is a Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers and
a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. In addition to being
a director of the DBA, he takes an active part in design training
and education initiatives.
David is married with four children, and his interests include
classic motor yachts, cars, art and travelling.
