Sean founded Brands Applied. Where he refines brand strategies,
then helps
organisations implement them through any business department,
not just
through marketing.
He is passionate about spotting ideas that define brands. Then
making these
ideas survive in demanding business environments.
He began his career as a designer, which took him to Asia for
a number of
years working at leading agencies on a range of projects and
clients across
many design disciplines. His clients ranged from the Hong Kong
Government,
Kone elevators, Phillips and many other blue chip companies
using Asia as a
manufacturing base.
Sean returned to the UK in 1996 to switch to a role in a client
organisation, Orange. This gave him a deeper understanding to
the inner
workings of large multi-national companies. Here he developed
a range of
techniques to help drive the brand successfully through the
company.
At Orange, he started as Design Manager overseeing identity
and execution
through all channels of the business. In his seven years there
he progressed
through the company in a number of different roles. Before leaving
Orange,
he headed up the Worldwide Brand Strategy Team, who plotted
the strategic
direction for the brand across the group. This role also meant
he was
involved in scoping strategic relationships with partners such
as Microsoft,
Nokia and Motorola.
Before founding Brands Applied he was a director at Finisterre
a design
agency whose clients included Yell, Lloyds TSB, Cancer
Research UK
and Sainsbury¹s Bank.
He has judged awards including Hong Kong Governors Awards, the
DA&D¹s and
chaired the judges for the DBA Design Effectiveness Awards.
He is regular commentator on the design industry and is also
a member of the
Marketing Society and 26.
