Virgin Atlantic in-house design team in collaboration with Klein Dytham Architecture

The Narita Clubhouse at Tokyo airport required refurbishing and expanding. The aim of the project was to improve passenger capacity and satisfaction levels and to capture an increase in passenger market share.

Virgin’s in-house team drew inspiration from Tokyo, using a combination of screens and open space to create both a public and private passenger experience. Enhanced technology and entertainment systems were integrated into the surroundings, while two sunken lounges, a raised sundeck and a business bar increased capacity significantly.

The marriage of local design and Virgin Atlantic branding has created a unique Clubhouse experience. The project was delivered on time and under budget, with seating up by 40% and the business centre doubling in size. Passenger satisfaction has also doubled and market share on the London-Tokyo route has grown.
