Lakmal is an England & Wales qualified solicitor and partner at Edwin Coe LLP, specialising in all aspects of intellectual property law in the UK, and globally. He is able to advise businesses on identifying the intellectual property that they create in their day to day business, and assist in maximising protection for those assets. He also advises clients on commercialising and realising revenue from their IP, whether that is by franchising, licensing or selling their IP. Where IP dispute issues arise, Lakmal is adept at resolving these as quickly and cost-effectively as possible, ensuring that the client’s objectives are met.

Lakmal has worked with design agencies to ensure that their IP rights, or those of their clients, are secured. He has also advised agencies in tricky circumstances where they may be subject to IP infringement allegations, or where they want to conduct due diligence on a branding project they have initiated for a client. Over the years he has also advised agencies on their service agreements with clients, in particular ensuring the IP they produce as part of a client project is clearly managed.
